Dahlia is from Pagosa Springs, Colorado.  While studying at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, she focused primarily on oil painting and figurative work.

Using acrylics and marker, her current approach is uncomplicated in process, but complex in its totality.  After selecting a palette, organic shapes are intertwined with detailed linework, the paths of which are determined by the trajectory of the preceding lines.

With no fixed orientation, patterns emerge from all sides of the canvas, grow together and create a unified whole.  This allows the design to be essentially self-directing and generates a sense of fluidity.

It is this process which grants each piece the ability to evolve rather than conform to some predetermined idea or image, which may, or may no longer, be relevant.  The resulting patterns have become the backdrop for her clothing design.
